In light of the second major fire at Gafoor’s Houston Complex on October 10, 2016, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Sattaur Gafoor has announced that an overseas based private investigator has been hired to work along with the Guyana Police Force and the Guyana Fire Service, to determine what caused the fire.

In an interaction with the media on Thursday, Gafoor said that based on the negative publicity that the second fire has brought on the company, he is confident that the private investigator would prove that it was not negligence that caused it.

He stated that when the entity was almost destroyed by the first blaze, earlier in the year, it was due to the lack of fire prevention measures being implemented. However, this time around, he assured media operatives that all suggestions made by the Guyana Fire Service were adhered to and implemented.

Gafoor further emphasised that, inspite of what is being reported in the media, there were no combustible items stored in the bond, which was only completed 10 hours prior to when the fire began.
