[www.inewsguyana.com] – Police say they were forced to shoot a man who is believed to be mentally unstable after he attacked ranks in a menacing manner.
The man, who has been identified as Andrew Barker, 37 years, of Betsy Ground, East Canje, Berbice was shot to his left hand. The police in a press release said that at about 10:25 hours today (Wednesday September 18), they responded to a report that Barker was threatening persons with a cutlass at Goed Bananen Land, East Canje.
Upon seeing the police ranks approaching, the police claimed Barker attacked them which led to him being shot. He has been admitted to the New Amsterdam Hospital.
