Police increase presence at Camp Street after transferred prisoners create ruckus

0

Police officers are presently situated around the Camp Street Prison block in Georgetown after prisoners who were transported to the location on Monday have been reportedly pounding on the walls and shouting.

When Inews arrived on the scene, police officials refrained from making comments but confirmed that security had been heightened because of the behaviour of the prisoners.

Director of Prisons, Gladwin Samuels was not immediately available for a comment to the media.

The relocation of these prisoners came on the heels of the second prison break in the space of one month which saw the escape of 13 hardened inmates housed at the walled compound of the Lusignan Prison on Sunday evening.

Thus far, seven (7) of the escapees have been recaptured.

A man hunt is still ongoing for the remaining 6, in addition to the other four who had escaped during the July 9 Camp Street conflagration.

The 10 wanted men have been identified as Clive Forde, Shawn Harris, Kerry Cromwell, Pascal Smith,  Kendall Skeet, Paul Goriah, Mark Durant Williams, Uree Varswyck, Stafrei Hopkinson Alexander, and Cobena Sephens. (Ramona Luthi)
