Plaisance man accused of assaulting mother of two

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 44 – year – old businessman of Plaisance, East Coast Demerara was placed on $30,000 bail for threatening and assaulting his paramour.

Before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine – Beharry, Roy Peeres pleaded not guilty to two counts of threatening language and along with an assault charge.

It is alleged that on October 28 at Linden, he unlawfully assaulted the mother of his two children, Lisa Paul.

It is also alleged that on September 14 at Linden, he also made use of threatening language to the said victim.

The defendant was represented by Attorney-at-law, Gordon Gilhuys, who told the Court that the couple has a “visiting relationship” and do not live together. He noted that he advised his client to desist from meeting the victim and pay the child support to the Court.

Peeres was bonded to keep the peace and instructed to refrain from having any contact with Paul. He was also ordered to report to the Sparendaam Police station every fortnight on Fridays and the matter was transferred to Linden Court for November 5.
