Motorcyclist succumbs to injuries in Essequibo accident

Bajnauth Samaroo, aka Suresh, 62, of Hampton Court Village, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) has succumbed to injuries he sustained in an accident on the Hampton Court Public Road. The accident occurred on December 15, 2016, at around 18:35hrs.

According to Police information, the accident involved a car bearing registration plate PJJ 5803, and Samaroo’s motorcycle.

Investigations revealed that the motorcyclist was proceeding north while the driver of the car was proceeding in the said direction behind the motorcycle.

The driver, in attempting to overtake, reportedly lost control and collided with Samaroo.

The motorcyclist was allegedly hit from the rear and thrown into a trench.

The driver Nandram Persaud, also known as Tony of La Belle Alliance, Essequibo Coast, is currently in Police custody assisting with investigations.

The motorcyclist was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to Suddie Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His body was later taken to the Suddie mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination.

The man was said to be returning from his sister’s home when he met his demise.

Only recently, in two separate incidents on the Essequibo Coast, Doctor Haimant Haimraj and 5-year-old Orissa Williams lost their lives due to accidents. (Guyana Times)
