A mother of five was yesterday jailed for stealing when she appeared before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Melinda Beaton, 31, of 45 ‘A’ Field Sophia, Georgetown pleaded guilty to the charge which stated that on September 5, 2016 at Independence Boulevard, she stole $280,000 is cash, belonging to the virtual complainant, Curt Steele.
The defendant, who was unrepresented, told the court that on the day of the incident, she offered to sell a phone valued at $6,000 to the virtual complainant. He however, indicated to her that he preferred to have a sexual relationship, and she complied.
She said that after they had been intimate, Steele fell asleep and as such, she stole the money from him and left.
The defendant explained to the Chief Magistrate that she needd the money to purchase school supplies for her five children.
However, she was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment. (Ramona Luthi)

This mother did what was necessary to put food on the table for her five kids she did not kill anyone like what the APNU thugs and government officials are doing on a daily basis steal tax payers money for their personal use.This mother should be released immediately and the government should assist her and her kids –however where is the father /fathers of these kids?
