[www.inewsguyana.com] – Michael Mendonca of Mon Repos North, East Coast Demerara, charged with signing a false declaration was today fined $30,000 with an alternative of three months imprisonment.
The 35-year-old man appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and pleaded guilty to the charge which alleged that on Friday, August 7, 1998 he signed a written declaration stating that he is Robert Mendonca and that he never applied for a passport.
His lawyer, Paul Fung – A – Fat told the Court that his client had a golden opportunity to work in Trinidad but has now lost everything. Mendonca apologized for committing the offence.
