McDoom resident charged with illegal possession of gun, ammo

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 24 – year – old man of Middle Street, McDoom, East Bank Demerara was yesterday remanded to prison by Magistrate Ann McLennan on charges of unlawful possession firearm and ammunition.

Desmond Richards pleaded not guilty to both charges, one which stated that on December 16 at McDoom, he had in his possession eight 9 mm ammunition when he is not a licensed firearm holder.

Particulars of the other charge stated that on the same day at McDoom, he also had in his possession one 9 mm pistol without being the holder of a firearm license.

The unrepresented man told the Court that he works at a tyre shop on the East Bank of Demerara. He was remanded to prison and the matter was adjourned to January 12, 2015.
