Vote[www.inewsguyana.com] – Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee on Monday May 04 declared that May 11 shall be observed as a public holiday, in observance of general and regional elections.

May 11 is the day that the Guyanese electorate go to the polls to cast their ballots in favour of whatever political Party they would like to see holding the reins of government.

In a statement to the media, the Home Affairs Ministry said “in pursuance of the powers conferred on the Hon. Minister of Home Affairs by Section 6 of the Public Holiday Act, the Minister has declared Monday, May 11, 2015 as a Public Holiday in observant of General and Regional Elections.”

While there are eight political Parties contesting the elections, the battle for government is being seen as a close one between the incumbent People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) led by President Donald Ramotar and A Partnership For National Unity + Alliance For Change led by Retired Brigadier David Granger.

  3. I don’t think anyone was planning on working that day. The following day should count. I don’t think that the opposition and their thugs will take lightly the news of defeat. But if the police and soldiers love their jobs then they know what they have to do. If not then I guess we will see a huge change in the forces.
