Man busted with 1.6 kilos ganja on Corentyne highway

A New Amsterdam man was, earlier today (Thursday), busted with a quantity of cannabis sativa (ganja) along the Corentyne highway in Berbice.

Reports are that a Police Lance Corporal and three ranks made the bust while conducting random routine checks. They stopped and searched a minibus bearing registration number BVV 2700 where a 45-year-old man of Ferry Street, New Amsterdam was a passenger. At the time he was carrying a haversack which contained a black plastic bag in which 1.68 kg of the illicit substance was found.

He was arrested and taken to the Number 51 Village Police Station. (Andrew Carmichael)

  1. Bam, bam!…….. look what de cat brought in!…..And dat frequent writer in another paper said that all ”random” searches by de GPF have been outlawed.
