Linden-Soesdyke Highway accident leaves 1 dead, 2 injured

A Victoria block maker is the latest Linden-Soesdyke Highway road fatality  following an early Sunday morning accident.

Dead is Simon Paul, 30, of Victoria village, East Coast Demerara. Inews was informed that Paul was proceeding along the highway heading towards Georgetown when he reportedly lost control of his vehicle and collided head-on with a truck (Lorry with a low-bed trailer attached) heading to Linden.

Paul’s body was reportedly flung from the car and discovered some distance away on the highway. He was rushed to the GPHC in an unconscious condition and was pronounced dead on arrival.

Extensive damage was seen to the front and rear of the vehicle while the car’s roof was completely ripped off.

The driver and the porter of the truck were taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where they were treated and sent away. However, the driver of the truck has been taken into custody as investigations into the fatal accident continue.

According to the Police the truck driver’s blood alcohol level was tested and found to be zero percent.
