Police are investigating an incident where a 30-year-old fireman of Linden was severely chopped about his body by four men on Wednesday night.

Reports indicate that Masimba Sampson of Wisroc, Linden was called out of his home at approximately 22:00hrs by the four men, one of whom had a firearm, while the others were armed with cutlasses.
A scuffle subsequently broke out and Sampson managed to relieve one of the men of his weapon. However, the other goons retaliated by swinging with their cutlasses, slashing Sampson in his face, head and about his body.
The severely injured man was left to die as the perpetrators made good their escape. However, with the little strength which remained, Sampson managed to reach the Wisroc Police Outpost. The officers there assisted in getting him to the Linden Hospital.
Sampson was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he remains a patient in critical condition.
