Although Suriname is the host country for Carifesta X1, participating countries have to offset their own expenses which include transportation, meals and events they are taking part in.
This was revealed by Minister of Culture Dr. Frank Anthony today at a press conference held to update media operatives on Guyana’s preparations for the festival slated for August 16-25.
Guyana’s contingent has estimated its expenses to be $20M for the 10 days. According to Dr. Anthony, members of Guyana’s contingent of 50 were selected from an audition held from June 14-15.
He said he is pleased with the organizing teams especially those who have come onboard to make Carifesta X1 a success with Guyana’s input. [Nickhail Jaundoo]
