Fresh off a four-day break, Kings XI named four changes from the side that beat Gujarat Lions. Martin Guptill and Eoin Morgan were brought in for Marcus Stoinis and Hashim Amla, who hadn’t recovered from the hamstring injury he sustained in the previous game. Seamers Anureet Singh and Ishant Sharma were also drafted in for Sandeep Sharma and T Natarajan.

Sunrisers, buoyed by the return to fitness of Yuvraj Singh and Ashish Nehra, left out left-arm spinner Bipul Sharma and fast bowler Mohammad Siraj. Sunrisers captain David Warner said he would have batted first. “It looks like one of those wickets where you put runs on the board,” Warner said. “It is a good ground, and we are going to back our strength – defending.”

Sunrisers are currently third on the points table with four wins from eight games, while Kings XI are fifth with three wins in seven matches.
