In an effort to strengthen Guyana’s security sector, the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) today [Tuesday August 14] hosted a security seminar at the Pegasus Hotel.

Delivering the key note address was Home Affairs Minister, Clement Rohee who noted that the Private Sector continues to play an integral part in the security sector as it relates to formulating and implementing policies.

The Home Affairs Minister explained that public safety and security is a wide ranging issue and that is why there is a private sector representative in the Guyana Police Force, Guyana Prison Service and the Guyana Fire Service.

According to Rohee, while all of the advice from the private sector is not accepted, it would not auger well for Guyana, if the government disengages communication with them.

At team from the Home Affairs Ministry made a presentation at the seminar, while officials from GEB Security Service were also in attendance, along with members of the Guyana Police Force.
