Essequibo man remanded for 2 robberies resulting in theft of over $1.4M

malletA 34-year-old labourer from Zorg Village, Essequibo Coast, kenny Wellington, was on Thursday remanded to prison on two counts of break and enter and larceny.

He made his first appearance before magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court where he was remanded to prison until December 22.

The Police said that on December 12, he broke into the dwelling place of Wendy Ramdeo from Hoff Van Aurich, where he stole approximately $1.3 million worth in jewellery and other items.

The Police said that on December 13, he also broke into the dwelling place of Deonarine Innis from Zorg-en-Light. There he stole a gold chain and a gold band valued $140,000, property of Innis.

He was not required to plea to the charge and was remanded to prison for the two robberies.
