An East La Penitence, Georgetown woman was taken into Police custody following the discovery of an unlicensed firearm, two rounds of matching ammunition and a quantity of ganja.
Reports are that Police acting on information searched the woman’s premises at Powis Street, East La Penitence on Friday where the items were unearthed.
Police in a release confirmed that a .38 revolver with two matching rounds of ammunition along with 51 kilograms of ganja was found. She was arrested and is assisting with investigations. Charges are expected to be laid shortly.
Only on Tuesday last, three men were arrested after the vehicle they were travelling in was intercepted with 4409 grams of cannabis during a Police operation along the No 51 Village Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice.
This publication understands that one of the men resides at Tucber Park, New Amsterdam; another at Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown; and the third is from Betsy Ground, Canje, Berbice.
Based on reports, the men were heading to Springlands in a grey Toyota 212 car bearing registration plate PRR 654 when Police stopped them at a roadblock. Upon realising the men acting suspicious, the Police requested to search the vehicle during which the marijuana was found in five separate plastic bags in the trunk.
