Following an announcement from Public Telecommunications Minister Cathy Hughes, that she is engaging Guyana’s two telecommunication giants – GTT and Digicel – about their poor 4G network services, Digicel on Tuesday said that the issue has been resolved on their end.

digicelHughes had indicated that the disappointing 4G network service citizens have been provided with will be rectified by the end of the year. She said that she has spoken with both telephone companies and they had promised to fix it.

However, Digicel said on Tuesday that initially the company was experiencing some interference within its allocated spectrum range but that issue has now been resolved. “With the launch 4G Smart Data Bundles Plans, including free talk and text and a lower cost of megabytes, we certainly are offering better value to the customers with our 4G plans,” an official from Digicel said when contacted for a comment, noting that they would be engaging the Minister on Thursday for further discussions.

“The feedback from our customers has been largely positive to the whole 4G experience. Once the Telecoms Bills comes into force, we look forward to bring additional products and value to Guyana,” the company added.

Since GTT and Digicel rolled out their 4G network services, many persons have complained that the services provided are less than satisfactory.

Earlier this year, GTT launched its “Free Basic 4G Services”. It was designed to give people free 4G access to information from more than 20 local and international websites, including Wikipedia, Guyana Learning Channel.com, google.gy, gina.gov.gy, and all major news sites in Guyana.

Digicel rolled out its 4G smart bundles, which consisted of data bundles and free talk and texts to all local numbers, which will be available to all postpaid and prepaid Digicel customers.

  1. This is the piss poor service Digicel is providing to its Guyanese customers, if a little noise was not raised Digicel would have kept its mouth shut and continue charging us for their poor shitty service.
