Couple remanded after found with cannabis disguised as cigarettes

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A couple accused of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking was on Thursday remanded to prison after they made their first court appearance before Ann McLennan to answer to the charge.

It is alleged that the duo, Duel Pollydore, a mother of a 9 – year-old, and 46 – year – old Derk Alexander, a father of 14 children, both of Lot 218 Half-Mile, Wismar, Linden onWednesday September 30, 2015 at Half-Mile, Linden they had in their possession 64 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

Both Pollydore and Alexander who share an intimate relationship with each other and are the parents of a 9 – year-old child, pleaded not guilty to the offence.

According to the facts of the Prosecution, on the day in question Police acting on information went to the home of the two accused and conducted a search in their residence.

Further investigation revealed hidden within Pall Mall Cigarettes packets leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.

The items were then tested and proved to be the alleged 64 grams of cannabis.

They were told of the offence, arrested and charged.

The Prosecution objected to bail due to the gravity and nature of the offence, citing the fact that the two accused were attempting to sell the items.

After the Prosecution’s statement, Magistrate McLennan denied both defendants bail.

They are set to make their next court appearance on November 10 at the Linden’s Magistrate’s Court.

They are not couple is my nephew he leave her for a younger woman and she got a son for him and they living home together in Half Mile she lives in the Ward and she also send him paper to go to court for child support .The truth will come out there is a God . She is mad and hungry with him because he leave her and there son for a younger woman .
