[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Beverage Inc joined forces with the Petra Organisation under its Busta Brand to sponsor their first Soft Shoe Football Tournament to the tune of $4 Million.

At a press conference, General Manager of the Beverage Company, Robert Selman highlighted that his own struggle as a youth influenced his decision to sponsor the Petra Organisation.

“This is what will please this Company to know that we will be providing the opportunity for many of them who are not going to play the game at the traditional level, but just within their respective communities,” Selman stated.

Director of the Petra Organisation, Troy Mendonca thanked Busta for their supported and noted that the tournament will be a success.

The winning team will walk away with $600,000 while second will receive $300,000. Third place will play for $200,000 and fourth $100,000.

The soft show tournament is similar to futsal with the difference being that the goals are a bit larger and the players play in sneakers instead of cleats on a scaled down football field.

Meanwhile, the teams will be divided into six groups of four with the top two from each and the four best third place finishers going forward to the knockout stage.

Teams will have only five players including a goalkeeper on the field at any time. Further, each team will be provided with ten jerseys compliments of Busta which will carry the Company’s logo.

The tournament is scheduled to run until May 5 at three venues, namely; Georgetown Football Club (GFC), Tucville ground and Ministry of Education ground.
