Levi Steven, 28, a farmer of Central Rupununi, Region Nine was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on March 16, 2017, in Kumu Village, Region Nine, armed with an arrow and bow, he fatally shot his cousin and buried him in a shallow grave.

He subsequently went into hiding but was apprehended by public spirited persons on Sunday, who then turned him over to the police.

On the day in question, Steven reportedly committed the gruesome act in the presence of a six-year-old relative, who immediately told his family what transpired. As such, they reported the matter to the police and the dead man’s body was recovered from a shallow grave.

The matter was transferred to the Lethem Magistrate’s Court where he is expected to re-appear on June 6, 2017.
