[www.inewsguyana.com] – The charge against Guyana’s National Chess Coach, Wendell Meusa was dismissed by Magistrate Judy Latchman, after the victim decided not to offer evidence in the matter.

Meusa was placed on $150,000 bail for the offense of assault with intent to rob during his first Court appearance.

Particulars of the charge stated that on June 15 at High Street, Georgetown, he unlawfully assaulted Shaleeza Mohamed with intent to rob her.

The Court heard that the defendant and the victim were passengers in a bus, when he demanded the driver to stop the vehicle. While making his way out, he allegedly pulled Mohamed’s handbag but she held onto it.

It is further alleged that he pulled out a cutlass and fired chops towards the victim and in return she kicked him, causing him to fall out of the vehicle.

The Court heard that the woman received minor chop wounds to her head and hand. The matter was reported and the defendant was arrested and charge.
