Antiguan found with 2.5 kilos of cocaine at CJIA

An Antiguan national, who was an outgoing passenger destined for Toronto, Canada, was on Friday morning nabbed with a quantity of cocaine at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Timehri.cocaine

The Antiguan was reportedly seen acting in a suspicious manner by ranks of the Police Narcotics Branch. She was then approached by the ranks and asked for a search to be conducted on her luggage.

During the search, 2.5 kilograms of cocaine was found concealed in her carry on suitcase. She was immediately taken into custody and interrogated. She is expected to be charged shortly.

Only recently, a resident of West Demerara, who was on the Police radar for some time, was nabbed at the CJIA after admitting that he had swallowed a quantity of cocaine pellets.

He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he excreted at least 91 of the pellets weighing a total of almost one kilogram.

The 46-year-old man was an outgoing passenger and was destined for the USA.
