Angry South Ruimveldt residents thrash suspected thief

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A man who sustained severe injuries at the hands of angry neighbors after they caught him attempting to steal from a home, was placed before Magistrate Ann McLennan to answer to the offense of break and enter with intent to commit simple larceny.

It is alleged that 20 – year – old Anthony Anferne of Lot 259 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown between August 09 and August 28, 2015 at Lot 59 Fern Drive, South Ruimveldt, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Natasha Robinson with intent to commit simple larceny.

After much hesitation, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence. According to the Prosecution, on the day in question, the virtual complainant and her brother retired to bed about 20:30 hrs when at 04:00 hrs the next morning, she awoke to noise coming from the bottom flat.

Robinson ventured down stairs where she was confronted by the defendant. The woman screamed, waking her brother after which the accused ran out of the house.

However, he was caught by angry neighbors who gave him a sound trashing. The police was then summoned and he was arrested. He was remanded to prison and is scheduled to reappear on September 11.
