American citizen further remanded for cocaine in Kerrigold Milk

[www.inewsguyana.com] – American citizen, Jermaine Carter who was recently caught with cocaine in Kerrigold milk powder packets will return to Court on July 11 for trial.

He was further remanded to prison.

On July 8, he made his appearance before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and the case was transferred before Magistrate Judy Latchman for report and fixtures.

He is now represented by Attorney – at – Law, Adrian Thompson, who told the Court that his client denied having any illegal substance in his suitcase and said that items from Carter’s suitcase was missing.

He said the bags were already checked and was rechecked. Carter pleaded not guilty to the offence before Magistrate Fabayo Azore last Friday and the matter was transferred before the Chief Magistrate.

It is alleged that on July 4 at Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Timehri he had had in his possession 7.057 Kilogrammes of cocaine for trafficking.

Carter was departing Guyana on a Dynamic Airways Flight to Piarco International Airport, Trinidad. During procedural checks, his suitcases were sniffed by dogs, which detected the presence of narcotics.
