Alleged Clothes Thieves remanded to prison

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Two Labourers, accused of breaking into a shop, were today [Monday, September 1], remanded to prison when they appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that between August 23 and 25 at Kwakwani Park Berbice River, 22-year-old Ronald Samuels and 20-year-old Marvin Cort broke and entered the shop of Jewel Leacock and stole five jerseys, eight pants, eight trousers, 20 boxers, eight long foot shorts, six pairs slippers, six caps, one umbrella, one haversack and two tops together valued $132,000.

The duo pleaded not guilty the charge of break and enter and larceny and were represented by Attorney-at-Law Paul Fung – A – Fat, who made a failed effort in securing bail in a reasonable sum for his clients. He noted that the items were recovered and a gun was not used.

The Prosecution which was led by Police Inspector Michael Grant, who did not oppose bail and the case was put off for September 9.
