Alleged child murderer’s trial dependent on Psychologist’s report

[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Court is scheduled to decide whether alleged child murderer, Ryan Bobb-Semple will go to trial when State Psychologist, Dr Bhiro Harry presents his final evaluation report on January 20, 2016.

Bobb-Semple, 23, a homeless man, had confessed to the murder of nine-year-old Shaquan Gittens, who went missing on April 01; his body was discovered several days later floating in a canal in a semi – nude state.

Bobb-Semple had confessed to the crime, telling investigators that on the day of his disappearance, he had abducted the child and taken him behind Cane View where he raped him and subsequently strangled him to death.

After he was arraigned, the issue of the mental capability of the accused to stand trial had arisen. A decision was then taken to have him evaluated by the State Psychologist.

The destitute was seen and evaluated by the psychologist thrice; however Dr Harry had requested additional time to speak to the family of the murder accused so as to gather background information.

On Monday, November 30, Magistrate Fabayo Azore scheduled January 20 for the psychologist to present his findings in Court so as to decide whether the accused will stand trial.
