“A” Division Commander instructs probe into bus park ‘brawl’ involving traffic cops

Following the surfacing of two separate videos on social media where Traffic Officers of the Guyana Police Force were allegedly involved in ‘brawls’ with mini-bus drivers at Stabroek Market bus parks, Police “A” Division Commander, Marlon Chapman has instructed that an investigation be conducted into the incidents.

In a telephone interview with INews earlier today (Monday), Chapman noted that while he has only seen one of the videos which went viral on Facebook, an investigation will be carried out into both incidents. He posited that if the traffic ranks are found to be involved in any professional misconduct, without a plausible reason, then advice will be sought for action to be taken against the respective officers.

INews also understands that the four traffic ranks are still on duty.

During the latter part of last week, the videos- which were reportedly filmed hours apart on the same day- took social media by storm. In the expletive laden videos, enraged ranks were seen rushing up to irate mini-bus drivers, while onlookers were attempting to calm the parties down.

One of the videos showed ranks with blood stains on their uniform; while in the other, the traffic officers were seen pulling a driver out of his mini-bus.
