704 Arm Wrestling tournament launched

[www.inewsguyana.com] – The 704 Sports Bar has teamed up with Southland International to host the second edition of their arm wrestling championship at the 704 Sports Bar in Alberttown, Georgetown.

At the launching on Friday, January 30 a top prize of $100,000 will be up for grabs in two categories as Project Manager of 704, Dustanni Barrow revealed why the organisation decided to host the tournament for the second time.

“We did not envision how successful it would have been in the first year, the public has been asking for it so we decided to do it again,” Barrow highlighted.

Chief Executive officer (CEO) of Southland International, Irzad Zamal who is the main sponsor of the tournament, outlined the company’s interest in the event.

“Last year’s success has encouraged us to come onboard again with such a unique tournament and we believe that it will be bigger and better,” Zamal stated.

Meanwhile, Barrow noted that the tournament is slated for a March 28 start as he noted that 704 will be hoping to grow the sport.

“Handing out tables to organizations such as the GDF and Police Force will help us grow the sport and not just that but ensuring the we have referees for these events is crucial as well,” Barrow noted.

The event is expected to have all of its previous champions with 704 aiming to provide insurance for all players in case of any mishaps.

The top prize will be $100,000 in each category which includes the under-200lbs and over 250lbs.The tournament finals are expected to take place on April 4.
