3 dead as car slams into lorry on Soesdyke/Linden Highway

Three persons are now dead in what has been described as a horrific accident on the Soesdyke-Linden Highway.

The accident occurred sometime around 19:30hrs on Friday on the Kairuni Public Road, Linden Highway.

One of the dead men has been identified as 30-year-old Malroy Rose, called “Fowly”, of Lot 64 Block 22 Wismar, Linden.

He died while receiving treatment at the Linden Hospital Complex. Rose was employed as a mechanic at Bosai Minerals (Guyana) Inc.

The identities of the other two dead persons are still unknown.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle; Rayon Wilson, 35, was admitted with multiple traumatic injuries about the body.

Twenty-nine-year-old Junior Hudson also suffered multiple traumatic injuries; however, he is said to be in stable condition.

According to reports reaching this publication the men were travelling in a vehicle, bearing registration number PHH 9398, heading to Linden, when they slammed into a low bed trailer truck, bearing registration number GPP 2993, which was parked on the road shoulder.

Police in a statement late Friday evening said the driver of the lorry related to investigators that he was proceeding South along the eastern side of the road when his vehicle developed mechanical problems.

This resulted in him pulling over to the corner of the road and while in the process of effecting repairs under the front of the lorry, he heard an impact at the rear of the lorry.

Police said the driver further related that upon investigating, he discovered the car had collided into his truck. He further related that the car had five male occupants – all of whom appeared seriously injured.
With the assistance of public spirited citizens, all except one who was motionless, were rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex, where two were pronounced dead on arrival.

The other succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
