[www.inewsguyana.com] Forty – three – year old Michael Gordan of Peters Hall, East Bank Demerara was today charged with the offence of causing death by dangerous driving.

Gordan was not required to plead to the charge before Magistrate Fabayo at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court. He was placed on $1M bail.

It is alleged that on Sunday, September 14 at Mabaruma Public Road, he drove motor pick up GMM 7330 in a manner dangerous to the public, causing the deaths of Raymond Khan, 65 years, of Cornelia Ida, WCD and Jean Williams, 63 years, of 21 Peter’s Hall, EBD

Police Prosecutor, Seon Blackman opposed bail on the grounds of the seriousness of the offence, the punishment it attracts and the fact that two lives were lost.

Representing the accused was Attorney – at – Law, Leslyn Charles, who informed the Court that Gordan is married with two children and is the sole breadwinner of his family. She noted that her client was hospitalized for four days, following the accident and was not under police guard at the hospital.

Defence counsel requested bail in a reasonable sum and told the Court that the two deceased were his family members.

Bail was granted and the accused was ordered to lodge his travel documents, inclusive of his passport and report to the Providence Police Station every Friday at 15:00 hrs. He is expected to make his next Court appearance on October 7.

  1. It’s so strange that this matter isn’t publicized as much as Mr. Sanjay’s matter a few days back. People just know whose throat to jump on. This individual caused the death of 2 persons and no one isn’t making a big fuss out this situation. The media was running down Mr. Persaud and no one isn’t doing that to this person. The people of today are so unfair.
