17-year-old arraigned with murder of his father

The 17-year-old who allegedly killed his 44-year-old father, Junior Moses, was earlier today arraigned with murder when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan.

He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which alleged that on November 23, 2016 at Barima, North West District, he murdered Junior Moses.

He was remanded to prison and is expected to return on December 6 2016.

It was reported that on the day in question at about 18:40hrs, the teen and his father were engaged in a heated argument, after which he [teen] armed himself with a knife and stabbed Moses to his stomach.

The man’s son then fled the scene of the crime but was later apprehended.

Moses was pronounced dead on arrival at the Mabaruma Hospital.
